Vita Nova offers talks to school. These talks are delivered by trained Vita Nova staff/volunteers with lived experience of problematic drugs/alcohol use. This is followed by a Q&A session.

Vita Nova has been providing high quality preventative drug and alcohol educational work within schools and colleges since 1999. This work enables young people to develop an understanding of the impact alcohol and drug use can have.

Vita Nova talks for young people consist of personal testimony and the opportunity for pupils to question people who have lived experience. All staff and volunteers delivering talks have regular safeguarding training.

The aims and objectives of the talks are to:

  • raise awareness of drug and alcohol issues,
  • give young people an opportunity to ask questions about drugs and alcohol,
  • provide an opportunity to talk to people with lived experience of addiction,
  • empower young people to make informed choices.

Feedback from a staff member at a secondary school:

"...they listen to the Vita Nova volunteers because they are 'real', and their experience, honestly expressed, is real."

School talks can be timed to suit your timetable usually up to an hour in duration and are tailored to be appropriate for each year groups.
