About Vita Nova
No one expected what would happen when real people in recovery from addiction performed a short drugs and alcohol awareness educational play for local secondary schools in 1999. It seemed like a good idea! And it was … it had huge, positive benefits not just for the audiences- but also for the actors.
That first production, Scratchin’ the Surface, was so powerful that it became a runaway success, and was eventually seen by more than 60,000 young people across the south of England…
What we do
Vita Nova is a vibrant creative arts organisation and recovery community, sustained by the genuine passion of our members and volunteers with a mission to help young people and prevent future harm.
As a new member to Vita Nova, your first experience may be with our creative writing group (a place of calm and healing) where you can find your voice and be supported to lose your inhibitions as you share your story. Or perhaps you might consider joining our theatre or music group….

Somewhere safe that’s drug and alcohol free
We know how difficult those first hours, days, weeks and months can be after successfully completing your addiction treatment – and just what you risk, if you’re truly on your own.
When you arrive at Vita Nova, you’ll find somewhere that’s safe, and free to attend. Here there’s a community of people just like you, who know how urgently you need somewhere to go that is drug and alcohol free. And, even better, where there’s fun stuff to do.
